John 1:46
“Nazareth! Can anything good come from there? Nathanael asked
“Come and see,” said Philip
Have you ever considered what kind of friend you are? Do you ask your friends how they are really doing and then do you actually listen? Today I would like to encourage you to be a friend like Philip. Those words come and see? I found this little booklet of the Gospel of John and because it's my favorite Gospel, I took it and I’m giving it another read over. I came across where Philip invited his friend Nathanael to come and see Jesus. I got this flutter of excitement, being invited to come and see Jesus. To have such a Holy friend as Philip, to have as much faith as Philip. Then it took one sentence from Jesus for Nathanael to say “Rabbi, you are the son of God, you are the King of Israel.” Jesus replied “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that. He then added, “Very truly I tell you, you will see Heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” What an eye opening moment for these two disiples. Is Jesus personally having a come and see moment with you? Listen to it because it can be a beautiful experience. Do you ever wonder what your come and see moment will be like? Maybe you’ll be around for the second coming, or you’ll be able to see him face to face in Heaven. What a beautiful moment to imagine. Maybe someone will be in Heaven because you once said Come and See to them.
